From The X-Files, "Chinga":
Mulder: Maybe you don't know what you're looking for.
Scully: Like evidence of conjury or the black arts or shamanism, divination, Wicca or any kind of pagan or neo-pagan practice. Charms, cards, familiars, bloodstones, or hex signs or any of the ritual tableaux associated with the occult, Santeria, Voudoun, Macumba, or any high or low magic?
Mulder: Scully?
Scully: Yes?
Mulder: Marry me.
Scully: I was hoping for something a little more helpful.

Then my friend's wiry arms were round me, and he was leading me to a chair.
"You're not hurt, Watson? For God's sake, say that you are not hurt!"
It was worth a wound — it was worth many wounds — to know the depth of loyalty and love which lay behind that cold mask. The clear, hard eyes were dimmed for a moment, and the firm lips were shaking. For the one and only time I caught a glimpse of a great heart as well as of a great brain. All my years of humble but single-minded service culminated in that moment of revelation.
His face set like flint as he glared at our prisoner, who was sitting up with a dazed face. "By the Lord, it is as well for you. If you had killed Watson, you would not have got out of this room alive."
— John Watson in the Sherlock Holmes story The Adventure of the Three Garridebs

Colors! Who doesn't love em'? As my teacher used to say: "The human eye is a slut for color!"

SHERLOCK HOLMES—his limits.
1. Knowledge of Literature.—Nil.
2. Philosophy.—Nil.
3. Astronomy.—Nil.
4. Politics.—Feeble.
5. Botany.—Variable. Well up in belladonna,
opium, and poisons generally.
Knows nothing of practical gardening.
6. Geology.—Practical, but limited.
Tells at a glance different soils
from each other. After walks has
shown me splashes upon his trousers,
and told me by their colour and
consistence in what part of London
he had received them.
7. Chemistry.—Profound.
8. Anatomy.—Accurate, but unsystematic.
9. Sensational Literature.—Immense. He appears
to know every detail of every horror
perpetrated in the century.
10. Plays the violin well.
11. Is an expert singlestick player, boxer, and swordsman.
12. Has a good practical knowledge of British law.
When I had got so far in my list I threw it into the fire in despair. "If I can only find what the fellow is driving at by reconciling all these accomplishments, and discovering a calling which needs them all," I said to myself, "I may as well give up the attempt at once."
- A Study in Scarlet, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

From The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes:
Holmes: [after he learns Madame Petrova wants him to impregnate her] This is all very flattering, but surely there are other men, better men.
Nikolai Rogozhin: To tell truth, you were not the first choice. We considered Russian writer, Tolstoy.
Holmes: Oh, that's more like it. The man's a genius.
Nikolai Rogozhin: Too old. Then we considered philosopher, Nietzsche.
Holmes: Well, absolutely first-rate mind.
Nikolai Rogozhin: Uh-uh. Too German. Then we considered Tchaikovsky.
Holmes: Oh, you couldn't go wrong with Tchaikovsky.
Nikolai Rogozhin: We could, and we did. It was catastrophe.
Holmes: Why?
Nikolai Rogozhin: We don't know. Because Tchaikovsky, how shall I put it? Women not his glass of tea.

From Transformers Animated
Megatron: Stop staring at me.
Starscream: No. You stop staring at me!
Megatron: Do you think I actually want to spend the rest of eternity gazing at your unsightly visage?
Starscream: Trust me: your visage is no picnic either. And your face is ugly too!
Megatron: Oh, someone just take me offline now...
Starscream: What do you think I've been trying to do for the last four million stellar cycles?!?! AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! It's funny, really, when you think about it. Tragic, but funny! AHAHAHAHAHA!
Megatron: ...oh, shut up.
— Stranded and helpless in space, Megatron and Starscream bicker to the end.

English poet Byron, back in the late 18th century, wrote this marvellous piece on the death of the hated Lord Castlereagh:
"Posterity will ne'er survey
A nobler grave than this.
Here lie the bones of Castlereagh
Stop, traveller, and piss."

"The basic formula of their day to day existence, my dear! No matter the drugs in question or the technology at their hands, Holmes still needs his fix, room for his experiments and Watson is there to make sure he doesn't do something too dangerous."
